The Master in Contemporary East Asian Regional Studies is an English-taught degree program with a social scientific, contemporary and interdisciplinary profile. The program offers research-focused training for highly qualified graduates with a BA or similar university degrees in the social or economic sciences. We offer the choice of a focus on the Japanese or Chinese language and choice of a discipline (social sciences or economics). It combines intensive language training with interdisciplinary and discipline-specific modules on East Asia.

The Master Program Modern East Asian Studies is designed for students who hold a BA in East Asian regional studies or East Asian language studies. It aims to train students in the theoretical and problem-centered analysis of social, political and economic phenomena in East Asia in order to deepen and enrich the students’ ability to assess contemporary change in East Asia. East Asian language skills are developed further.

Japanese or Chinese language skills are required.
